Fast. Easy. No-Cam. The Cheetah sets the standard for camless freeride sails. Shape is sewn into the panels to create the Cheetah’s deep, wing-like profile and stable, locked-in power.

For 2020/21, the Cheetah is much lighter. The new Cheetah weighs in a substantial 1/2 pound (230 gram) less than the previous model. This weight improvement comes mainly from a new window material that also makes the sail accelerate more quickly as it fills up with wind.

The Cheetah is one of our best-selling sails because of the wide wind range and uniquely stable design. David Ezzy’s philosophy of incremental improvements year after year means that this new Cheetah will feel familiar and be compatible with your current quiver, while boosting performance.

No one likes to spend time rigging. With the Cheetah, just downhaul until the gauge lines up with the bottom of your mast. That’s it. No guessing. Every Cheetah is calibrated in the factory so that you can use the calibrated rigging gauge to know exactly how to tune the downhaul. Markers on the clew further ensure accurate and precise rigging.

As with all Ezzy Sails, quality and durability are baked into the design, ensuring that you will log many years of fun and reliable sailing on your Cheetah.

Features

WHAT MAKES THE CHEETAH DIFFERENT?

Broadseaming. The Cheetah's shape is "baked" into the sail with broadseaming. This gives the Cheetah a deep belly of shape that mimics what cambers do to a sail, making the Cheetah stable and powerful while still being camless and easy.

The endo-batten system further locks the shape into the panels. The Cheetah does not have batten pockets. Instead, the battens are inserted in the space created between where the panels are sewn together. With a traditional batten pocket, the sail is asymmetric. But, the endo batten allows a perfectly symmetrical profile.

QUALITY CONSTRUCTION

Living and testing on Maui, we have learned how to make sails that survive the the elements. The Cheetah is a freeride sail, but it is built with the wisdom of over 35 years of making wave sails. There is no 'monofilm' that will not quickly crack and break. The spectra-X is a light and tough solution that gives each sail a longer life.

The Cheetah is built with reinforced X-ply, ripstop scrim-X, and a Weft-Stop anti-rip sleeve cloth. Every seam is glued and covered before being sewn. David Ezzy owns his own factory because no other factory can produce the quality he demands.

Every sail is rigged in the factory by our experienced craftsmen who scrutinize every millimetre from headcap to pulley. While rigged, the battens are tuned to be ready right out of the bag for your first session.

We obsess over quality so you can enjoy the Cheetah today and for many years to come.

CALIBRATED RIGGING

The Cheetah is a fast, easy freeride experience that starts when you unroll the sail. The Cheetah sets up in minutes with rigging gauges that remove all the guesswork from tuning. Just downhaul until the gauge lines up with the bottom of your mast. Each and every sail is rigged and calibrated in the Ezzy Sails factory.

MAST RECOMMENDATIONS

No matter how brilliant the design and construction of a sail might be, good Rigging and Tuning by the owner is vital to deliver its true capabilities and yours!

An often overlooked aspect of this the importance of using a compatible mast - The better the match, the more you can tune the sail to deliver its full range of performance and rider comfort, both of which are the key to every aspect of enjoyable and safe Windsurfing!

The Cheetah is designed around the Ezzy Constant Bend Curve RDM masts, but will work OK on some SDM masts.

For the optimum performance and tuning range on the Cheetah, we recommend using the Ezzy Hookipa 91% Carbon masts, but you can use the Ezzy Legacy 60% in 8m or lower sizes. The Legacy mast has the same bend curve as the Hookipa so is certainly still a great mast, but it does not contain the High Modulus Carbon which is utilised in the Hookipa to deliver the superfast and very dynamic reflex characteristics which makes the sail feel even more responsive and light in your hands, which also delivers a slightly higher wind range before you feel the need to change down.

You can also mix 91% and 60% tops and bottoms in the Ezzy mast range, as separate tops and bottoms can be purchased and they are compatible on dia.
