Your North/Nautix UJ top pin fits into a Stainless Steel housing within the plastic base moulding for ultimate strength/durability/weight, while the Cleat is excellently positioned to allow easy down-haul, as well as RAPID RELEASE when de-rigging, as only one foot needs to be placed on the extension, after which the rope is released from the cleat with a single jerk upwards motion, or if you prefer, push down with your foot – either method completely releases the luff very easily, but always make sure the hand pulling the rope is at least 400mm away from the cleat due the amount of rope which will be used to run back through the 6;1 down-haul system as the Foot/Luff tube is pulled up the mast by the release of the down-haul tension.
